Welcome, to my site. In the pages of this site I hope to share what I know about Cavaliers and Cavapoos and help you to answer some of the questions you have about these lovely little dogs. Below is a bit about me, so have a good look around and hopefully enjoy! 
 I am a small breeder and as the title suggests I am breeding dogs with HEALTH, HAPPINESS AND TEMPERAMENT as the first and foremost breeding criteria. Next is to ensure that they find the best homes. Cavaliers and Cavapoos are very sweet natured dogs who really enjoy human companionship and family life, so it is only right that they find the home which can fullfil their love of being loved and become a valued member of their new family. 
I am also an Accredited Breeder (look at `Guide To Buying A Puppy` page) of Cavalier King Charles Spaniels with the Kennel Club so all my dogs are eye checked, which is mandatory under this scheme and all my dogs are heart checked which is recommended under this scheme.
I live in the rolling glorious North Devon countryside, England, United Kingdom and have been breeding Kennel Club registered Cavaliers since 1991, but have been surrounded by this lovely breed since a small child back in the late seventies & have been brought up with Cavaliers by my side almost constantly, going to school was about the only time I would be parted from my loyal friends and on my return from school it was always a joy to be greeted by licks and uncontrollable wagging of tails. I have never kept dogs to show although having fun at are local fetes with them in the family dog shows, I  know the standard of this breed and have researched the history and know the common health issues of the Cavalier. I have loads of pracitical experience of this breed as an every day pet and friend. The reason I have Cavaliers is because they are just truly wonderful little dogs and have been true friends and companions over the years and are possible one of the best, if not the best dog breed with children.  
When breeding I have always looked for health and temperment and the results have been  different to what you see in the show ring but still falling within the breed standard, my dogs look like a small  spaniel. My Cavaliers are robust little dogs that are quite happy being a lap dog  or chasing rabbits' across a field, as it is well to remember that these dogs were originally bred as companion dogs and for sport, especially the Blenheims (brown & white) as at Blenheim Castle they were used in packs to hunt rabbit and hare giving very good accounts of themselves as fearless little spaniels, but  the most important characteristic of the breed is they want to love you and for you to love them.    

My sister aquired a lovely Miniature Poodle named Rollo and wanted to breed one of my Cavalier girls with him. I was not so keen, but she persuaded me, for the first time ever to crossbreed one of my dogs. The result was stunning. Four bundles of fun arrived and I realised what a lovely cross this is. All breeds of dogs started as being crossbreeds. I see crossbreeding, if done for the right reasons, and with health checked parents, actually improving the health of pure breeds. My reasons for this crossbreed is for improved health and at Poundlane we have only been breeding the first cross for pet homes as this is were the real health benefits are in the first cross there after it diminishes so putting a Cavapoo to a Cavapoo you will have less genetic benefits as their parents (look at "All About Cavapoos" page) and because of the low/non moulting it allows low allergy suffers who are allergic to a dogs dander the chance to own a dog with the temperment of the Cavalier but maybe not the allergy problems. We are now looking into going further than the first cross with an aim to breeding a non moulting small spaniel much like the now extinct breed once known as the Trawler Spaniel. The Trawler Spaniel would of been related through ancestry to the Cavalier and to reproduce this type of tight curly coated small spaniel again will take some time and thinking through on the best way to proceed to this goal.
We now breed two to three litters a year of this lovely first cross. It is well to be aware that the Poodle is an energetic breed of dog so you will find that they are a bit more active and will need a bit more exercise than a pure Cavalier.

All our dogs we breed from are allowed to reach maturity before breeding and this also gives time to see if they have any genetic disorders. They are heart and eye checked before mating. These checks are done annually.
The mums are allowed to tend their pups up until they go to new homes.  Mum has the chance to wean them in her own time. The benefits to allowing mum all this time with her pups is not only good for their health but also great for their social development .
All pups leave microchipped and in the case of my pure breeds are Kennel Club registered. I also supply a substantial puppy pack which includes, toys, food etc. and lifetime advice.
All my mums are pets first, mums second . All our dogs have demonstrated exemplary temperaments. I have a young family so temperament is first and foremost.
