Flora and Kayla look to be settling in well in their homes and we have received updates from their families. The first update is from Lucy and Alan who have Flora.
just to let you know Flora is well and we have had a wonderful first week with her.We can see small changes in her everyday , and she seems to take everything in her stride.Have attached a couple of photos, and also a sort of video. I am not really sure I should be sending it , it may give you grave concerns re my lack of puppy training technique) - but I can reassure you we are booked for classes in for May!
Lucy and Alan
Thanks Lucy and Alan for letting me know that all is okay and thanks for sending on the photo taken by Alan of Kayla with her Mum just before leaving us.
Next is an update on Kayla who left us last Sunday and is settling in well too.
It's going very well, she's incredible. You've done a fantastic job with her, as has Smudge! She has no fear, she loves meeting people, loves to play, sleeps well at night - the children love her! Up to now, all toileting has been outside (fingers crossed).
She's already learning 'come' and 'sit'. Her only problem is she thinks absolutely everything is there for her to chew - lots of NO's being said.
Lynne & Family
Sorry about the chewing Lynne, but their world is explored through their mouth and she is just approaching the age she will start to teeth and lose her needle like baby teeth and get her adult teeth. Chewing is a natural process which really helps to move the process along and to cast her baby teeth, it will get better once her second teeth have arrived and with the second teeth, if they mouth you when playing they are far more smoother than the needle like baby teeth, so less likely to hurt.
We are now down to four of Smudge's pups being Jake, Harvey, Chester and the only girl Mollie. Mollie although the only girl, easily keeps her brothers in order. We have been putting leads on these now and getting them used to being lead and doing this as individuals, to also get them used to being an individual.
We keep the camera near the pups, so any one in the home, if passing the pups and a photo opportunity presents itself the capture can be caught. Although I take some photos a lot are the childrens efforts and with the video here today we get a chance to see my husband as camera man. I milked yesterday evening, so husband did the school run and cooked tea after running our children to and from after school cricket and a film club, but he still found time to catch this bit of footage of the pups. I found this on the camera this morning and guessed it was not one of the youngest children, due to the height and stillness of the camera and the older children told me they could not recall filming it, so rang husband who confirmed it was he's work and told me he was trying to catch Jake running around like Reggie does, Reggie being Jake's Dad. AS usual he said he missed the best bit getting the camera, but managed to still catch a bit of it. When watching it Harvey is the pup who goes in pursuit of Jake and then you can see he wonders where he's gone and even after you think he sees Jake at the food bowl, he goes back and checks he is still not behind the dog bed. Smudge pacing up and down at the beginning of the video, is because David had just fed them and she wanted to go in and eat their food.
Received a lovely update a few days ago from Margaret, who has Bella, who is from Dolly's litter born back the end of 2011 and her Dad is Reggie.
Dear Jane Etc,
I was devastated to read this afternoon about what has happened to Jessica. Being really honest I have not been looking at your blog and site this year very much as I was trying to resist all the wonderful pictures of puppies and happy dogs and concentrate on Bella.
What an awful shock it must have been and how wonderfully she seems to have coped with it all. Animals are such resilient things. Could we get up and move forward after such an awful injury no.
Bella is still as wonderful as ever and still has her "worries", anything anyone is holding she doesn't know what it is she moves away and people say she is timid and frightened. I say no, she is worried about it, she is a very clever girl and doesn't know what it is, so retreat for the time being is the best option. Some larger dogs cause her some anguish but Cavailiers are instantly recognized and called too in that whimpering excited way you must know about. She has quite a few small dog friends who she is pleased to see and play with.
I continue to wonder whether she would be better in a two dog household (another reason not to spend too much time on your blog - it is so hard to resist all those pups).
Oh Henry what are star you are too. Doesn't he run fast, I thought Bella was fast but to go out of site so quickly how interesting his pups will be. I hope Reggie is well and all the others. Lovely to see Dolly enjoying her retirement.
Jane, if ever you feel any of your wonderful dogs need a home in a different environment (i.e. with a fit retired lady of nearly 64) with her husband, still working at 65 plus and taking caravan holidays where dogs are welcomed, I would be only too proud and happy and pleased to offer myself.
I attach the latest pictures of Bella who still adores children but would like to catch a squirrel or cat, these were taken in our Caravan in the Cotswold over Easter. She is still the only Cavapoo in Princes Risborough.
I will once again study your blog as the happy look on Bella's face when playing the video of Henry swimming and your voice was worth a million pounds.
I do hope Jessica continues to regain her health and stamina, my thoughts are with you and your family.
Kind regards from me and licks from Bella.
I took a couple days to reply Margaret, as considering her offer of taking on an older dog, at this time with our dogs, they either were bred here, reared here from a pup or have family ties within the pack, so I would find it hard to let any go and also the children would lynch me. Not very business minded I know, in the past the couple dogs we re-homed were dogs that came to us as adults and we felt would in their later years be better off in a one to two dogs home. Thanks Margaret for the offer and I will keep it in mind if things were to change. Thanks for keeping in touch now three years on and as usual in the photo's you sent Bella lives up to her name.
On Monday saw a quick visit to the vets to remove the stitches from Jessica's wound left from her leg being amputated and an opportunity to book the four pups of Smudge's in for their second vaccination for the 17th May a couple days before twelve weeks which is okay for the Lepto 4. Lepto 4 is a reasonable new vaccine, as before it was Lepto 2, its just covering four strains of Leptospirosis instead of two and is adviced to not give the second jab until twelve weeks, as the Lepto 2 second vaccination used to be able to be given at ten weeks. I also got Dolly booked in on the 8th May to be spayed and have a dental, to remove some plaque build upon her teeth.
WARNING : This bit is about entries on my web stats from escort websites and may offend some, so if easily offended look away now.
Lastly its seems I might need to say a "Hello !" to Israel. Now I own my own domain, so this means I get stats for my website along with a tool which shows me referring websites and over the last week, although I get searches from all over the world and Israel often pops up, I don't often get them coming in from Escort websites, now this interested me and last night after someone (you know who you are) came in three times in around a hour from an Israel girl escort website I thought I'm going to take a look, so ran the address through a malware check and what a laugh my husband, and I had. Looks like they do a bit more than just escorting you and with not much clothes on either. Lol
Obviously I'm not a prude and I'm not afraid of the human body in all its glory (working for a horse stud for several years, there's not much a man can surprise you with.Lol) and being an escort site I suspected it had nothing worse than you would find on page three of the sun, these are escorts remember, so they are a bit more deginified than your average porn site, lol, although I suspect this is like trying a bit of weed for the girls and two years down the line some are heroin addicts or if you don't get that analogy, they start as an escort and their doing hard porn in a few years.
The laugh we had was the translation from Hebrew into English with one girls breasts described as "Standing Breasts", now I suspect it should be stunning and its a blip in translation, they were stunning and obviously surgically enhanced to be eye catching add ons and I imagined if she turned around a bit quick she could also stun you with them, so my husband laughed and asked, "If that's standing breasts, what do sitting breats look like ?" I replied "Like mine,I suspect" and followed on by saying,"although I think they might be more reclining than sitting, these days." We then laughed with great mirth, I'm not sure whether we were laughing together or he was laughing at me.
It was a bit like entering a butcher shop, as the girls faces are obscured( I suspect for discretion for men using their escorting services not wanting the girls to be to easily recognisable as escorts and harder for the law to trace them or even their families). Not much about the intelligence of each girl, more about their work rate and I guess a lot of men ain't going to be looking at the mantle when the fire needs tending.
When you're in the butchers they remove the head and hang the carcass, because it just the meat your looking at the quality of. Last Friday was when I noticed Israel escort website on my stats and I guess if your looking for quality meat for the weekend, you might struggle to get the best joint that close to the weekend, so yesterday you started looking again, so hopefully you're getting the best meat on your hook for this weekend.
Now prostitution, yes, I said prostitution, you can call it escorting because you get it to fit within the law and it makes you feel a bit better about it, but it prostitution. For religion its cut and dry, you are sinning, hell and damnation is waiting for you boy, but I don't think its quite that black and white and I'm not going to condemn or condone something which is a complex issue and actually could be seen to have a place, well, whether we like it or not, it does have a place in society and its management is more the issue than its existence. I'm actually going to thank you for giving me a laugh, still keep laughing about the standing breasts and the biggest thank you must be for letting me know that the oldest profession going is very much alive in the Holy Lands, you could almost call it the oldest religion going, some of you men certainly like worshipping at the temple of it and make pretty princely donations to it, but I'm going to ask you one little favour and that goes for the other ones who come off porn sites, could you just before coming onto Poundlane from your dose of sexually gratification just pop back onto your default page and use google etc search engine and then I won't have to have this discussion again, "what the eye don't see the heart don't grieve." So please, no more porn to puppies. Lol. I'm now probably going to be flooded with people coming (in some cases literally) off porn sites, but I'm hoping that you're going to respect my tongue in check request.
