If Henry did Crufts, he would rename it Chews because he loves them and he would always choose the biggest one.
It's really interesting observing your dogs, especially when in a pack. One thing Henry has recently shown us is that he is a bit of a raw hide chew connoisseur.
I noticed when I give the dogs chews that Henry sits and waits for his. When I give him a chew, he does not always go off with it, but turns his head to the closest dog to him and gives it to them, and might do this a couple times until he then takes a chew off to chew. So I wondered why he does this ?
The chews are slightly different in size and I wondered if this was the reason and on testing him on chew size, sure enough each time he was tested, it was the biggest chew he decided to take off and chew.
You can see him seem to check the chew between his molars and if the small or medium size he spits it out sitting looking up to try out the next chew. So Henry seems to be showing that he is making a conscious decision over the size of chew he wants and showing he has stored the memory of the sizes of the chews. If you look at the chews above, the size difference is not vast either.
The first part of this year we are hoping to see a visit from Mollie at the end of March, who was from Smudge's litter last Spring and then Charlie (Who you can find out about on "The Boys" page under "The Old Boy") will be visiting us the beginning of May.
Then the end of July, Archie will be coming to stay for a couple weeks whilst Angie and her family go to France on holiday. Archie is from Smudge's first litter born Spring 2012. 2015 is starting to look a year for catching up with Poundlane dogs and their families.
